Once you’re here, the initial assessment appointment is a comprehensive exploration of your current eating and exercise routines, combined with a thorough review of your medical history. Beyond the basics, we’ll delve into your thoughts and emotions related to food, exercise, and your body, as we believe these aspects are integral to a holistic approach to health. This dedicated time allows our providers to truly understand you and your unique nutrition needs. We are committed to providing accessible and high-quality support to individuals in these regions through our virtual platform.
How often will appointments be?
Appointment frequency is flexible and determined by various factors, including financial considerations, the complexity of your condition, and the specific goals related to nutrition and body image. We also take into account other life factors and the progress you make between sessions to ensure the most suitable and effective approach to your care. Initially, clients are often scheduled for weekly to biweekly sessions to provide intensive support. However, as progress is made and clients require less assistance, the time between appointments may gradually extend to longer intervals to align with their evolving needs.
How long will we be working together?
The length and duration of our services can vary widely and are influenced by several factors, including clinical acuity, the duration and frequency of symptoms, individual progress, and specific treatment goals. We understand that each client’s journey is unique, and we tailor our services to best meet their needs and circumstances.
Who are these services most appropriate for?
Our nutrition services are tailored to individuals aged 12 and up who may not meet government-funded regional treatment program intake criteria, those awaiting admission to regional programs, recent discharges from higher levels of care, and those exploring alternate treatment options. Whether you’re seeking a bridge between higher levels of care or a holistic approach to wellness, our experienced Dietitians are here to help, collaborating with other healthcare professionals as needed.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Dietitian services may be partially or fully covered by your extended health insurance plan. You are encouraged to speak directly to your insurance provider to determine what coverage you qualify for (i.e. dietitian coverage per session or per year). Note: If your extended health plan does not cover the services of a Registered Dietitian, you can also use your Health Spending Account (the amount varies based on your insurance plan) towards Dietitian Services.
Once payment is received for services provided, a receipt will be issued that can be submitted to your private insurance plan for reimbursement. In accordance with strict provincial healthcare laws, each insurance receipt will be labelled with: RD’s license number and name, a description of the exact services provided, the exact date of the nutrition session and the exact fee breakdown of services provided.
Please Note: absolutely NO modifications to this format can be made. For instance, the date that you attend an appointment can NOT be changed in order to “use up” your benefit coverage in a given year, nor the fee breakdown per session be adjusted to better match your individual insurance policy coverage.
